An extension should be requested when unexpected and unanticipated difficulties adversely impact on your studies and your ability to submit coursework by the deadline date.

If you need a short extension (up to 5 working days) in order to complete your assessment, you need to complete a Request to extend a submission deadline (RESD) via My Student Record on MyHallam. If your extension request relates to a Dissertation or large project, you may be given up to a maximum of 20 working days dependent on whether it’s possible to mark and moderate the work before the assessment board deadline.

Please watch the guidance video to ensure that you understand how to submit a request and what documents you need to upload with the request.

You must submit a RESD at least 24 hours ahead of your deadline via My Student Record (MSR) on MyHallam, and upload any uncompleted work. Please continue to work on your assignment in case your request is not accepted and you need to submit your work by the original deadline.

You will receive an email confirming the outcome of your request within 48 hours and MSR will also be updated.

If you cannot meet the extended deadline speak to your Student Support Adviser for advice on submitting a Request to repeat an assessment attempt (RRAA).  Further information is available within the Extenuating Circumstances Policy.
