Under certain circumstances, you can ask for more time to complete your coursework. This is known as a Request to Extend a Submission Deadline (RESD).

A RESD will allow you up to an additional five working days to complete your assessment.

When a RESD is allowed

You can submit an RESD if your personal circumstances are making it difficult for you to submit your assessment on time.

We suggest contacting your Student Support Advisor to discuss whether an RESD is right for you.

What information we need

The RESD form will ask you to provide the work you have completed so far. This includes:

  • partial drafts of work
  • assignment notes

Your request is likely to be declined if you do not provide this information.

How to submit a RESD

You must submit your request at least 24 hours before your assessment deadline.

To submit an RESD log in to My Student Record, and select 'Extenuating circumstances' from the menu.

Follow the instructions on screen to submit your request and upload your assignment work.

Please note that an RESD can only be submitted against tasks and not sub-tasks. Contact your Module Leader if you have concerns about submitting a sub-task.

What happens next

We will email you within 48 hours to tell you the outcome of your RESD. We will also update your RESD submission in My Student Record.

Not all RESD's can be authorised. You should continue to work on your assignment while you wait, in case your submission date cannot be extended.
