Starting at a university can feel overwhelming, particularly if you’re an international student and new to the country.

At Hallam we want students to feel welcomed and part of the community, to help encourage this we have plenty of opportunities for you to socialise and meet new people.

Outdoor activities

The International Experience team run GoGlobal events, these social activities range from trips to the peak district, local city exploring and even alpaca trekking.

GoGlobal events are a great way to make new friends and an opportunity to explore South Yorkshire. Explore our GoGlobal pages to find out about upcoming events.

Meeting your peers

We run a mentoring scheme to help settle you into university life and make friends with others from around the world.

Visit our Culture Connect page to join our peer mentoring scheme.

Social events

Our popular Conversation Club is the perfect way to meet new friends from around the world. Numbers are limited so you will need to register to attend the Conversation Club.

You can also join our Culture Connect Social. They are a great way to meet up and socialise with other new international students and mentors.

Experience friendly competition at our free GoGlobal Sport sessions. Unleash your sporting prowess as you engage in fun, casual matches of cricket, football, badminton, volleyball and basketball.

If you have children, our Uni Kids sessions are great fun, free to join and an opportunity to socialise with other students with young families.
