Seminar Change Requests for semester / trimester 2 20/21
The University is working hard to ensure that our campus remains Covid – safe, to allow our students on campus when possible and practical and in a way which best supports their learning and progress.
For modules that have planned on campus delivery at any point during semester 2 / trimester 2 our need to manage room capacity, due to social distancing guidance means we will not be able to consider seminar group change requests except in certain highly exceptional circumstances - specifically that you have an underlying medical condition that you can evidence, are a registered carer or an elite athlete.
In addition and in response to feedback received in semester 1, we recognise that the current restrictions and government guidance due to Covid19 may have an impact on usual childcare arrangements for some students e.g. staggered school pick up and drop off times. Therefore, it has been agreed that where a module is planned to be fully taught online for the whole of the semester and you can evidence your childcare commitments clash with your allocated seminar time you can request a change.
Even if your situation comes under one of these three exceptional categories, while we will make every reasonable effort to make a change, it is very important that you understand that your change request cannot be guaranteed to be accepted. This is because the number of spaces available for on-campus teaching rooms is capped due to Covid19.
For students who do fall into one of the four categories above, can we also ask you please do not request a change unless your situation is unsustainable in relation to your studies.
To enquire if it is possible to change seminar groups please complete the seminar change request form by clicking on the relevant department link below.
If you do make a request, we will wish to discuss your circumstances with you in detail, in order to reach a shared understanding of the constraints and options.
The deadline for requests is the 28th January 2021 which is the second Thursday of teaching for standard Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses.
Please note: any requests received after the deadline date will be declined.
If your course is not taught over the standard university teaching weeks please contact Hallam Help for advice on who to speak to. Their contact details can be found at the bottom of this page.
The situation with Covid 19 is continuing to change, as is government guidance on how universities can respond to the pandemic. We will continue to keep you updated on this through our normal communications.
