If you are on a sandwich course, you will have the opportunity of completing a placement year. This is an important part of your professional development and experience at Hallam, where you get to relate your studies to a real work environment and start to work toward your overall career plan. It usually takes place after your second year of study and can begin after your assessments for that year have finished.
All work experience opportunities advertised by the University (including sandwich placements) are on UniHub and you also have the opportunity to source your own placement if you prefer, for example by contacting employers directly, converting your part-time job into a full-time developmental role or using external websites. However you choose to find a placement, once you have secured a placement, log into UniHub and start the approval process, which you will find in your UniHub Dashboard under Sandwich Placement.
We provide lots of support to students looking for placements and you might have a lot of questions at each stage of the process. The first step is to talk to your Academic Adviser, Employability Adviser, Senior Administrator or Hallam Help and depending on your specific needs, we will help you work toward securing a placement that's right for you. The University also organise Graduate and Placement Fairs and other events, which are a great way to find out more about companies and network with people in your industry.
