Managing your money is an essential part of student life and as an international student you will need to open a UK bank account.

In the national Covid 19 - lockdown, please follow these instructions to open a bank account online. 



Once we are back to normal:

You must go to the bank in person to open your account. You must take:

  • your passport and ID card (if you have one)

  • letter from the University (which you can print from My Student Record which confirms your address, course, date of birth and nationality) - this needs to be stamped by a member of staff at the Meet & Greet desk, level 5, Owen Building (open in January and September) or a member of staff at a Hallam Help point . Please ensure your Home address (address in your home country) and Term-time address are correct, include your flat number and post code in full. During orientation some of the major banks visit campus and open accounts, please visit the Meet & Greet desk during the welcome period for dates and information.
